You’d prefer 10 additional spots. Everyone knows that. Privately, I’ve talked to some of you to know where you’re at. If not, I already know where you’re at without needing to because we either have that relationship or you’ve made your opinion known publicly.

Everyone knows what they voted for, right? The proposal was doomed as of last night. I could see what everyone voted for (and have the screenshots). It was doomed. And then it was confirmed.

At any rate, I feel that I have a good grasp of where everyone’s at and am just trying to act accordingly to move forward so that we can solidify the rules and structure as quickly as possible.

But I’ll be honest, I’m flying to Wyoming tomorrow to go on a ski trip so I’m just going to let ya’ll take over the wheel here. You decide. What do you want. I’ll check back in next week when I’m back. ✌️

In the meantime, I can confirm that the proposal put forth to expand U21 rosters has failed with at least 4 No votes.

So, touching on Kawai & Blaugrana’s mentions… we might have to look at a smaller expansion, if any at all. Initially, the votes were lopsided in favor but as the topic began to be discussed more, the NOs made passing the proposal out of reach.

So, I’m making a new proposal based on what I’ve heard & believe probably has a higher chance of passing.

In this proposal, we’d drop the Academy concept and restrictions that were put on. Instead, we’d expand outfield roster max from 30 to 32. That would give you 35 player spots in total available at U21, rather than the 33 (30 + 3 GK) available now. GMs would also receive 1 million to cover the additional available spots.

I’m looking for the same 3/4s approval which would mean 9 votes for yes from the 12 returning GMs continuing next season.

I want whatever changes that pass to have overwhelming support, which is why I called for a vote of 9. I came up with this proposal myself though it took many initial concepts and alternatives. I felt this had a decent chance of passing so I put it to a vote. If it fails with 4 NOs, then we can re-assess to see if there’s an option GMs would be more in favor of.

I see both arguments. And I love that we can have this dialogue. I just want the actions that we take especially changes that we make to be supported and adopted by the vast majority, whatever they are.

One can argue the league has never been more competitive than it is right now with the current rules in place.

Again, I think that everyone has the league in their best interest. The vote right now is 6 in favor and 1 opposed. You can scroll up and see who’s opposed. In talking to JR, I know that his primary concern is the lack of targets being available particularly because he uses a roster theme. That’s his opinion. I don’t think one should dismiss it by claiming he just doesn’t scout or doesn’t want to scout harder. I know of two GMs currently who have seen this proposal, read it and have not yet voted because they are on the fence. And I don’t think either is a bad scout or has any other concern but oversaturation affecting their targets as well as the affect on transfer windows. I know because I’ve talked to them about it. And they’re valid concerns.

Votes can be changed. If 4 do not want, we can discuss the aspects they do not like and see if we can alter the proposal. Ultimately, I think that everyone has the league in their best interest.

I’ve heard a lot of concern about the fears of an oversaturation of the u21 market with a lot fewer targets being available every window so the concerns are valid.

The increases largely had to do with a re-prioritization of finances. They were last updated a few seasons ago. Originally, the Championship (previously called SNAFL) was kind of a throw-away league where not even everyone had to have a team or owners split teams. Now, with the added money and investment in players, it’s become a hot commodity, as it should. I feel U21 is fun in and of itself but should retain the lowest standing. I tried to find an even number that I’d be happy with considering the increases we were going to see in Championship and Premiership purses. So, if you notice, U21 winner gets basically what 6th in the Championship gets and 6th in the Premiership gets what the Championship winner gets. So I feel that the numbers are fairly spread apart now, meaning U21 received no added purse.

I don’t want the league to pass unpopular rules or ones that the GMs are split 50/50 or with a 1 majority or something like that. I’d like for the vast majority to be in favor. That’s to do with the compromises made for more incremental increases than I’d heard in earlier proposals. I know you’d be in favor of this, albeit maybe not in favor of some of the shackles I’ve added but a U21 roster increase in general is not as popular among the GMs as one might think.

If the proposal doesn’t pass but is close, we can further discuss the pros and cons for GMs and see if we can come to an agreement after the vote but I’m hoping that’s not needed and it’s either passed or rejected. I’m abstaining from voting in the meantime while others continue to make their voices heard.

Luigi and Roberdino as some of you may already know will be leaving us after this past season to focus on other things. I’ll keep this thread open for Bob to post something publicly, should he want to. I’ll quickly share something personal. When I joined effliga, I was a year removed from losing my brother in an accident. I was a man of hobbies who suddenly found no desire for any of them. X4L was a really good friend by this point and got me into the league, as it presented a good distraction for me to sink my teeth into. I fell in love, led a coup and eventually made it into something better. Having done this now 10 years and having grown into having more hobbies, demands from work and a personal life, I wondered when I’d stop. The answer for me is no time soon. But I understand if those outside demands for others change things for them after time. And I can only applaud Luigi & Bob for making the responsible decision to step away to focus on more important things. Know that the door is always open should you want to come back.

Because we won’t have the ability to expand teams for next season, we will instead have a replacement owner to take over Luigi and Bob’s players and both of them will be introducing themselves soon.

I’ll respond to the other questions or proposed changes about next season in another thread.

The Pelé documentary on Netflix is extraordinary. Take it from someone who’s worked on putting those kind of things together… to make it look and feel as original as it is was quite the feat. Some of that Santos footage is silent film but they managed to make it feel alive, and thus giving him life even though he’s left the mortal coil. But we can watch him through the power of cinema and thanks to modern technology, directly to our homes or your smart devices. Your kids can watch his highlights on the film, can listen to him narrate moments in his life and get to revisit the memories over and over again to learn, feel and cherish. I recommend checking it out.
