Congrats guys, nice work.
OK, I promise I’m not complaining, but I have to point out Haaland without a goal yet agin. Anyway, GG Santi and thanks yet again for simming Z.
LOL, “taught a lesson”. Yeah, a 1-0 lesson…. GG Timo and thanks again for simming Z.
I need to hire a goalscoring coach, for ALL my teams. GG mate and thanks for simming Z.
Back to The Smiths. “I still love you, only slightly less than I used to.” Some really good lines in this one.
It’s that time of year and we’re seriously living it in WI right now. Too bad I’m working too much, but a little time off is on the horizon. One of the deeper tracks and very much that Doors sound, but for me it just shows how much they churned out in such a short period of time.
Back to Belle and Sebastian. Not sure if I mentioned it the first time, but story goes they entered some contest where if you submitted an album and were chosen you’d get 10,000 quid. The rest is history and what a run they’ve had. Still brings me back to my college days. This is off their second album. While I wouldn’t say I spent the Summer “wastin’”, I feel as though my Summer mirrored the lyrics in my own way (where I didn’t anything “significant” and still enjoyed the Summer months).
Another band I need to explore some more, but I have at least two of their albums on vinyl. I’ve heard they’re quite good live too.
Definitely some other songs I prefer from Fleet Foxes to this one, but this is my favorite off of their last album. And it’s that album that I always listen to during this time of year as Summer slowly fades. Still arguably my favorite “current” act and I’m waiting to see what they release next.
Kind of sticking with the 50s theme here, but please note I myself am not yet 50. 😉 Anyway, back in the day I saw the play Buddy in London. While these days my taste in theater would be different, actually it was then too. I really enjoyed it though. The one performance that stood out for me was that of the fella playing The Big Bopper. This song just makes me laugh every time. I just look at the guy and he looks like he fell out of the 50s. More so though, the lyrics seem WAY to risqué for the 50s.
I enjoy my share of Westerns, though most of them are more “modern”. Saw a few older ones this Summer, but still have yet to see Rio Bravo. Love this song though. Good thing they didn’t let the Duke have a stab at a line or two.
I’ll also use this opportunity to add a Ricky Nelson tune. Not his best, but more obscure than my favorites.

You know it’s a great track if they’re covering it. Still, would have preferred an Orbison vocal.

BLAUGRANA.
Still can visualize the first night I remember hearing this song. Reminds of my Summer nights and some 30 years on I still love it.
Came across BRMC again the other day which simply reminded how poor my music consumption has become with YouTube. Also reminds me of how time flies since I haven’t checked them out in some time. Really liked this album though and this track in particular.
Continuing James’ theme:

Had to bookend in American Graffiti and more so Crime Story. Big fan of Dennis Farina.
I was literally going to make this thread, just without the transfer fees, days before this was posted. Very interesting to see where players moved, especially younger players.
With regards to fees I think I’m close to 400 million, though with some of the rumored moves it could have well exceeded 500 million. That said, I almost would rather be in a position where moves were minimized because then the players I have are probably already at or near the top.

I was wrong about Saudi not going after young players anymore. That was certainly the wrong impression.
Yeah, I think it was less of a headline this Summer, but still some significant moves such that a lot of us got hit. I wonder if some of us are even aware of some of the moves. For example, Simakan went to f’ing Saudi after the European window closed.
