Question: since we’re slow-rolling and likely to start with FM26, does that means we are promoting two years worth of U21s (2002s and 2003s)? I don’t particularly care what the answer is, just trying to prepare.

I’d say yes otherwise it would be U22.
Unfortunately for some of us who will have loads of players to promote.

Can prize money be adjusted and/or all managers get a cash injection to compensate for the fact we have to cover two years worth of promotions/changes to our rosters?

I’m sure I’m not the only one who had planned to go into the “next” season with 2003 players still being eligible for U21 and not having to make so many changes.

even though there was no fm25, we did promote the players born in 2001. so there’s no reason to promote 2002 and 2003 for the next season.

We promoted 2001s for FM24. 2002s would have gone up for FM25.

ok. I see what you’re getting at. season 22 was about a year long. season 23 will be about 18-19 months long.

                A few things:

—This season will have been essentially two seasons/two years in length.
—Today’s date is January 20th, 2006 and all 03s are literally 22 years old now.
—We all lose something/gain something from either scenario.

FM25 didn’t happen and we only have FM to blame. Looking at the FM26 player ratings and knowing what I personally missed out on with no FM25 pisses me off. On top of that, I probably stand to gain more by not promoting 03s. That said, I think it only makes sense. If it’s not done now it’ll have to be done eventually.

It’s obviously Zizou’s decision, but I would imagine if 03s are promoted we’d get compensation from the league’s coffers 😉 for each player, say 500k each. I would just take this opportunity to add/note that if it pleases the powers that be we would get compensation based on the following:

—500k for all 03s promoted regardless of reason
-additionally, 500k for all players who are 04s or younger (05s, 06s, etc) who will be forced to be promoted due to their CAs being too high

Why that second point? In most cases GMs with those players missed out on a whole season of having them at U21 level. Only way they didn’t was if FM25 would have upped their CAs, which of course we’ll never know, but I think it’s probably pretty safe to say few would have seen such an upgrade based on their respective FM26 CAs such that we’d have been forced to promote them.

At the end of the day it’ll be one or the other with regards to 03s. Either way I trust Zizou’s judgement and I’m just happy we have FM26.

We will be calling up all 2002s, as expected, but will also have to call up 2003s due to the reasons listed above. There is established precedent from the version of FM (FM20?) that wasn’t released due to Covid where we also called up two years of U21s over one off-season. As far as payouts, that time, IIRC, we totaled the second-year players (2003s in this case) for every U21 team, established the average and gave out 500k for whatever that was. So, for example, if the league average was 6 2003 players at U21, then we’d all get an additional $3 million. We didn’t get an additional bump for any U21 players over 155 CA. If history’s any indication, I don’t imagine that threshold affecting more than 2-3 players at most, so I don’t think it makes sense to add that to the pot. But we’ll definitely be making a lot more call-ups as a result of FM25 being skipped, which means your transfer lists will present a good opportunity to generate additional profit and every GM will have the opportunity to refill their talent base of U21 prospects as there’s A LOT of them available.
